A Thank You to my Kiddos

I have been under the weather for a few days now. That is actually an understatement. I have felt completely and utterly nasty for a few days now. I have been tired, stuffy, achy, etc. I am pretty sure it isn’t the flu thankfully (no fever), but either way, it is nasty.

Despite our lack of activity and my not so attentiveness my kids have been very helpful. Vincent and Kenniston have both been great about cleaning up their toys as soon as I have asked them. With very few exceptions they have been quick to get their clothes changed (from one set of pj’s to the next, yeah, it has been that bad). They have even helped their younger siblings out. Speaking of those toddlers, they have also been very helpful. Today after their bath I asked them to help me put the toys away they were eager to do so! With out me even asking they even started helping Vincent put away the mega blocks.

It seems like the last few months have been kind of a struggle to get the kids to help take care of and clean up their belongings. We have tried a number of discipline measures trying to get them to make the right choice. It seems that our simple sticker chart has done the trick. It really is simple. They make a good choice (which are posted next to said charts and they are read daily) and they get a sticker. If they notice someone else making a good choice and they tell me about it, then the person making the good choice gets a sticker and the person who told me about that choice also gets a sticker. We are working on being encouraging to one another.

I guess this kinda turned into one big rave, eh, that is ok. I am proud of them and that is ok. They are really good kids (through good choices and bad) and I love them very much!
