Things are changing around here. Aside from our upcoming road trip, we have also taken into consideration the fact Brain is getting out of the Army. This alone is a pretty big deal. While we have embraced the military life as best we can, there are still things we have not done since moving here to Fort Hood. Things like going to the commissary here. Yes, I am serious.
So, this week we made a trip to the commissary, just to say I went. It’s a grocery store, not much else to say….
This seemed like the week for those last minute jump-in-and-embrace-the-random-military-life-randomness-things. Things like eating at the D-Fac (dining facility for you civilians). I don’t know why, but I thought it would be fun to eat there at least once. I had very low expectations. Not that I didn’t think cooks in the military make great food (I know several, I know for a fact they can cook), it’s just well, military food. Unless you visit during a holiday, they don’t make food to impress.
We went. We ate. And it wasn’t too bad. I don’t know that we plan on going back any time soon, but we ate.
After the D-Fac we visited the 1st Cav museum. I have done a few photo sessions around the vehicles and helicopters on the outside of the museum, however, I have never actually been inside the museum. We checked it out and the kids had a great time! They listened as Brain shared his knowledge of the history or 1st Cav. They also had questions! It was a great experience. I kinda wish we would have visited sooner.
